"To provide literacy skills necessary for adults to function more effectively in their lives and communities."

Mary Burleson and adult learnersAdults from all over the world come to Peninsula READS to increase their English literacy skills, and each one of them has a goal: to read and understand street signs, to become a U. S. citizen, to better their employability, to understand pricing and labeling in the grocery store, or even to help their child with homework, to name a few.  Goals such as these are often taken for granted by many, but volunteer tutors like Mary Burleson (pictured front, left) dedicate their time to help adults reach their goals and learn the literacy skills they need to be more effective in their daily lives.
